Obituary of Barbara Vander Does

Barbara Vander Does (Davis) - Randolph, 86 passed away peacefully at Bristol Glenn (Newton) on Thursday, July 30, 2015, after a long illness. She was born on December 29, 1928 to Floyd and Marie Davis. Barbara was a graduate of Morristown High School and went on to get her degree from the Manhattan School of Dental Assistants. She worked as a dental assistant in Manhattan, KS while her husband Adrian was in the Army. She also worked in West Orange and Morristown. Barbara was a nursery school teacher at the Presbyterian Church on the Green in Morristown. She was an active member of that church for more than 58 years serving on many committees as an elder, choir mother, clothing bank worker, Morris View volunteer and woman’s group. She was a member of the board that was instrumental in starting the first homeless shelter in Morristown and was an active member of Circle 12. Barbara and Van lived in Randolph for 57 years and were active members of the senior citizens club. Barbara was the first PTA president for the Fernbrook School and was a girl-scout leader for many years and was on the camp staff at Jockey Hollow. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Adrian (Van) and three daughters: Jill Petrucelli and husband Frank of Landing, Lynn Molitoris and husband Tom of Green and Laura Davies of Randolph. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, her sister Betty Rowe and brother Bill Davis and his wife Sally and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015, 1:00-5:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). A brief funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, 9:30AM, also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. A memorial service will also be held on August 15, 2015, 11:00AM, at the Presbyterian Chapel on the Green, Morristown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001, or the Presbyterian Women at the Presbyterian Church on the Green, 65 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
