Peter J. Messana, 92, of Lake Hopatcong, passed away Friday, July 10th, 2015 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clare's Hospital, Dover. Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a Platoon Sergeant in the 791st AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion. He worked as a Carpenter.
He is survived by son Rudy Castillo, daughter Soraya Scarafile; seven grandchildren Michael Rodriguez, Vanessa Hoppe, Richard J. Steinel III, Chelsie Scarafile, Haile Scarafile, Anthony Castillo, and Cynthia Castillo; three great-grandchildren; nephew John D'Amico and niece Gaye Costanzo. He is also survived by other family and friends. Predeceased by his wife Gladys in 2011.
