James E. Carter Sr., 90, of Wharton, passed away Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover. James was born in East Orange and has been a resident of Wharton since 2008. He formerly resided in Totowa where he lived most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked as a Customer Service Supervisor at PSE&G, Montclair, and retired in 1982 after 37 years. James was former Assistant Fire Chief for Lincoln Fire Company of Totowa Boro, he was also a member of Mountain View Lodge No. 154 F.&A.M. of Wayne, and life member of VFW Post 6255 of Cedar Grove. He is survived by two children Susan Teza and husband Dennis of Newton and James and wife Gail of FL, formerly of Lake Hopatcong; three grandchildren Dennis Teza, Tracey Shutt, and Kyle Carter, and two great-grandchildren James Teza and Isabella Teza. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2008. Visitation Sunday, July 5, 2015, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph. Funeral Services Monday, July 6, 2015, 10:00 AM also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 West Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
