Obituary of Kenneth John Maguire

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kenneth John Maguire died peacefully on March 20, 2019 at his home in Randolph, New Jersey at the age of 50. Born in Livingston, he was raised in Mine Hill, New Jersey. Growing up he played football and baseball, but it was during his time at Dover High School that he excelled as a basketball player, serving as Captain and being named MVP his Senior year.  After high school he attended County College of Morris. He worked in the vending industry for 25 years, retiring in 2017.

To more than just a few, Ken was known as “Heat” or “The Heat Miser.” He was passionate about sports, movies, and tv and could outwit many when it came to trivia related to all three. He was an avid, lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees fan. Ken was known for his smile, quick wit, and charm. He was an all-around great guy, and people gravitated to him with ease, and would not soon forget him.  At home growing up as the only boy in a house full of girls, he made sure his presence was known, but he adored his family, and his sisters will miss him dearly.

Ken was pre-deceased by his parents Norman and Margaret (Peggy) Maguire, his uncles James Desmond, Robert and Hugh Maguire. He is survived by his beloved family, Kathleen Maguire and her partner Rosalie of Succasunna, Christine Maguire of Wharton, Patricia Maguire and her wife Catherine Holder of Kenvil, his uncle Frank Desmond and his wife Carol of Rockaway, his aunt Joyce Desmond of Plainsboro, cousins Kelley Desmond, Brian Desmond, Tracey Fascia and scores of friends who he counted among his extended family.

In his honor and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to in his name to the American Diabetes Association (donations.diabetes.org). Additionally, as he was a volunteer basketball coach, a scholarship fund in Ken’s name will be set up at Dover High School to help student athletes further their educations.

His memory will be honored from 1-5pm on March 30, 2019 at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
