Obituary of Justine L. Barth

Please share a memory of Justine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Justine L. Barth, 49, of Houston, TX died peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Dover, NJ with her devoted sister, Clea, at her side with whom she lived the last year of her life. Despite a 35 year battle with severe Crohn’s disease, Justine accomplished many things. Justine grew up in Syracuse, New York where she graduated from William Nottingham High School. She then graduated from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Justine completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and then joined the Faculty as an Attending Physician. She loved medicine and was an excellent physician and teacher of medical students and residents because she knew what it was like to be a patient. Her other love was horses and horse racing. She took lessons at Tanglewood Stables in Lafayette, NY and was on the dressage team at Binghamton University. At a very young age Justine began learning about all the famous race horses and for many years attended the Belmont Stakes in hopes of seeing another Triple Crown winner. Justine is survived by her sister, Clea C. Barth of Bound Brook, NJ, her father, Karl F. Barth, of Syracuse, NY, her mother, Sara Snodgrass Barth of Chattanooga, TN, and various aunts, uncles, stepbrothers, cousins and friends. There will be a Memorial Service at a future date in Houston, Texas. Arrangements by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph, NJ (www.tuttlefh.com). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Crohn’s & Colitis Society Foundation of America (www.ccfa.org) or the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (www.trfinc.org).
