Obituary of Mae Florence Post

Please share a memory of Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mae Florence Post, 92, of Randolph, NJ, the daughter of Swedish immigrants (August and Hulda Thoren), passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 22, 2019 at Merry Heart Assisted Living, Succasunna. Born March 13, 1926 in Dover, she was the youngest of eight children (three sisters, four brothers). Raised in Bethlehem Church when it was still a Swedish congregation (where her parents were founding members), Mae gave her heart to Jesus during adolescence, and spent her life giving love, friendship, hospitality, compassion, and service to others.

She worked as a telephone operator at JCP&L for many years, then married Lloyd D. Post (of Rockaway) in 1949. Mae loved homemaking, knitting (probably every family member and friend owns a baby sweater, blanket, booties, or dishcloth she made), sewing, crafts of all kinds, and raising her and Lloyd’s three daughters. They moved to Randolph Township in 1954 where Lloyd, along with his father and brothers, built their lovely family homestead in a farm pasture on Peace Road in Mount Fern. Bethlehem Church moved to Randolph from Dover, and Mae taught Sunday School, Pioneer Girls, and helped make/serve many of the church dinners there. She made countless friends throughout her life’s journey; if you were a friend of Mae’s, it was for life!

In their retirement years, Mae (with Lloyd) attended Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church, Succasunna. They were members of HARP (Hillside Association of Retired Persons) for decades. Wanting to continue helping others, she volunteered at Dover General Hospital for nearly 30 years and at the Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church Nursery School for 15 years.

Mae travelled across the United States camping with her husband and children; visited friends and family in many states; loved the Jersey Shore; ventured to England with Lloyd; but loved being HOME most of all. She was married to the love of her life for 54 years, until Lloyd passed away in 2003. She was also predeceased by precious Great-Granddaughter, Hannah Grace Noblick in 2011.

Mae is survived by her three loving daughters: Kathy Mae Beirne (Tom) of Mount Airy, MD; Susanne C. Lonergan (Jim) of Ledgewood, NJ; and Janice L. Crozier (Jack) of Westminster, MD. Her seven special Grandchildren: Kelly Beirne-Noblick (Jason), Todd Beirne (Jessica), Krista Beirne-Crow (Dave), Brian Lonergan, Colleen Lonergan, Shane Crozier (Christine), and Alyssa Crozier. Her six precious Great-Grandchildren: Travis and Mason Beirne, Kaitlyn and Joshua Noblick, and Tanner and Cooper Crow.
