Howard J. “Bud” Dixon, 63, of Succasunna, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, NYC, after a courageous battle with Colon Cancer. He was born in Glenridge and grew up in Berkshire Valley and has resided in Succasunna for the last 27 years.
Bud worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years, retiring as Postmaster in 2003. After retirement he worked for Package Research Laboratories in Rockaway for 10 years. Bud graduated Jefferson High School Class of ’69 and Bloomfield College Class of ’74. He was an avid baseball fan during his retirement he enjoyed going to spring training in Florida and visiting different Major League Ball Parks across the country. He also loved visiting Atlantic City, walking the ‘boards’ and trying his luck. Bud has left memories of his passion for baseball, his jokes and love of family and friends. He was a good kind man who lived life well and will leave behind a legacy of love, kindness and joy in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
Bud is survived by Kathleen (Downs) his wife of 41 years, daughter Keri (Dixon) Moliterno and her husband Louis of Middletown, brother David Dixon and his wife Dawn of Landing, sister Judy Johnson and her husband Frank of Lake Hopatcong, brother-in-law Brian Downs of Montville, sister-in-law Claudette Downs of Lake Hopatcong and aunt Jane and her husband John of Sparta. Also survived by beloved nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, 2015, 2:00PM-6:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 29, 2015, 11:00AM, also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
