Obituary of Norman Thomas Maguire

Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Norman T. Maguire answered his last call, going to the big firehouse in the sky, on November 17, 2018 in Hackettstown.

Born and raised in Orange, Norman was an Army Veteran, serving in Korea.

He was an East Orange Fireman for 32 years, retiring as Captain.  An avid golfer, Norman co-founded the Electric Caddy Company, bringing electric golf carts to private clubs and businesses in the area.  Upon retiring, he worked for 10 years at Warnock Automotive.

Norman had a love for music particularly big band, swing and Broadway show tunes. He would often sing aloud with a smile. His passion for old movies showed as well. There wasn’t a movie on TCM that he could not quote. He loved watching the Yankees and the Giants, playing cards and reading up on history.

Norman was pre-deceased by his loving wife Margaret (Peggy) Maguire, brothers Robert Maguire and Hugh Maguire, sister Rosemary Maguire, and brother-in-law James Desmond. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Maguire and her partner Rosalie (Rosabella) of Succasunna, Kenneth Maguire of Dover, Christine Maguire of Wharton, Patricia Maguire and her wife Catherine Holder of Kenvil, , his brother-in-law Frank Desmond and his wife Carol of Rockaway, his Sister-in-Law Joyce Desmond of Plainsboro, and many nieces and nephews.

In his honor and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation www.firehero.org/donate to honor and remember fallen heroes and provide assistance to their families.

His memory will be honored from 1-5pm on November 24, 2018 at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
