Obituary of William B Carpenter 8/1/1926-10/10/2018
William B Carpenter, a resident of Parsippany-Troy Hills passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2018 at the age of 92.
He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Audrey R Carpenter.
He was born on August 1st, 1926 at St Mary’s Hospital in Orange, NJ, the son of the late Howard and Marjorie Carpenter of Bloomfield, NJ.
After serving in the US Army during WWII, he graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Audrey R Huff of Lunenburg, Massachusetts on July 1st, 1950. He was employed by Foster Wheeler Corporation and later Foster Wheeler Energy Corporations from 1951 through 1987. He had a successful career with the company as an Electric Utility Equipment Proposal Engineer, Sales Engineer, District Sales Manager, Project Manager and Commercial Manager International Licensing.
He is a past president of the Niagara Mohawk Alumni Chapter of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the Puddingstone Heights Community Club of Parsippany-Troy Hills, and the Stardust Recreation Association of Morris Township. A past Deacon and Elder in the Reformed Church of America, a past Senior Deacon of Hope Lodge No. 124 of the Free & Accepted Masons, NJ. A past member of the Advisory Board for The Order of the Rainbow for Girls Boonton Assembly Number 46, past Committee Chair and Treasurer of Boy Scouts of America Troop 39, Morris Plains, NJ and a past member of the Mohawk Club located in Schenectady, NY and the Montclair NJ Society of Engineers. William has been a member of the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains since 1966. As an active member, He served on numerous committees and enjoyed many friendships.
He is survived by his wife Audrey R Carpenter and their children; Gail Hatfield and her husband, John (Jay); Jane Marron and her husband, Michael; Lori Harris; Scott Carpenter and his wife, Kelly. He has 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. We will miss him. May he rest in peace.
A memorial service at The Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains, 400 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ will be held on Saturday 10/20/2018 at 12noon. Friends may greet the family starting at 11am prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton, Connecticut at a future date.
