William Lauber, Lt. Col. Retired Reserve
William Lauber, 81, of Randolph passed away peacefully May 25, 2015 at home following a long and valiant battle with cancer.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10, Randolph (tuttlefh.com) on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM.
Bill was born and raised in Newark, and is a graduate of Central High School, he was a resident of Randolph for 55 years.
He retired as an Outside Plant Engineer after more than 30 years service with NJ Bell/Verizon, and retired as a Lt. Col. after 27 years service in the New Jersey Army National Guard and Reserve.
Bill served as a Deacon and an Elder at the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church, and was the Committee Chairman for Boy Scout Troop #166 in Randolph. He was also a lifelong member of the Lake Mohawk Country Club. For 41 years he enjoyed his RV travels with his family, visiting 48 states, including Alaska, and most of the Canadian Provinces. Since the 90’s he loved his winters with friends at the Trumbo Point Naval Air Station Campground in Key West, FL.
Predeceased by his parents Raymond G. and F. Clare (Dawson) Lauber, his brother Raymond D. and his grandson Daniel Venable. He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Amy (Handy) Lauber, his son W. Glen and his wife Melissa, his daughter Suanne and her partner Richard Tkacz, his son Alexander and his wife Kate, his son Clinton and his wife Rachel, his sister Margaret Arth, his sister-in-law Gloria Lauber, his brother-in-law Robert Handy, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his grandchildren Benjamin Venable and his wife Jaclyn, Heather (Venable) Langbehn, Christopher Lauber and his wife Andrea, W. Samuel Lauber, and Cordelia Lauber, and 3 great-grandsons Noah and Henry Venable and Abram Lauber.
