William W. Wood, Jr., 82, of Denville passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. William was born in Long Branch and has been a resident of Denville since 1962. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer and Designer at Bell Telephone Laboratories for 35 years, retiring in 1993 as a Distinguished Member of Professional Staff. He was an active member in Bethlehem Church, Randolph NJ, for over 50 years where he served in many leadership positions. He particularly loved working with the Christian Service Brigade programs of the church. He loved camping and canoeing and introduced many young people to the wonder of God’s creation. He also expressed his love of the outdoors in years of support for the Christian camps Northern Frontier and Camp Cherith in the Adirondacks. He is survived by Janet, his wife of 58 years, two children, William Wood and his wife Joan of Cleveland Ohio and Margaret Owen and her husband Barry of Taiwan, sister Polly Jones and her husband Jeff of Virginia, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to either Northern Frontier Camp care of Elizabeth Essery, 3298 State Route 9G, Rhinebeck, NY 12572, or the Benevolence Fund of Bethlehem Church, 758 Route 10 West, Randolph, NJ 07869. Memorial Service Saturday, January 31, 2015, 4:00 PM at Bethlehem Church, 758 Route 10 West, Randolph. Arrangements by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph.
