James Oliver Alston, 67, of Lafayette, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015, at Newton Medical Center, Newton. He was born in Henderson, NC and has been a resident of Lafayette for over 25 years. He formerly resided in Dover. He was the owner of J & A Cleaning Services in Lafayette, for over 35 years. James served as a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boonton, was an honorable illustrious member of Mt. Tabor Lodge #71 of Morristown and past Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Oriental Grand Lodge A.F.A.M., Newark. Survived by his wife Arnetta, four children Demara Pate, James M. Alston, Stayce Garrett and Tyrone D. Williams, four stepchildren Crushella and Ronika Posey, Edward and James Williams. Also survived by his previous wife Augusta Alston, twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and three sisters Annette Ray, Emma Harris and Yvonne Henderson (Harry). Predeceased by his sister Cornelia Blakely in December 2014 and his three brothers. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13th, 2015, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com ) with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015, 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
