Jack Guest, 86, of Denville, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville. He was born in Morristown and had been a resident of Denville since 2012. Before that he lived in Randolph since 1954. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked as a systems engineer at IBM in New York City, retiring in 1986 after 33 years of service. He graduated from Dover High School in 1945 and received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University.
He was a member and past elder at the First Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dover, where he managed the Sunday Bag Lunch program for the needy for many years. He also volunteered at the Faith Kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover.
Jack is survived by Flo, his wife of 61 years, and by three children: Ellen Williams and her husband Ted of Montclair, Bob and his wife Donna of Texas, and Linda Kingery and her husband Jim of Randolph. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Alan, David, Alexandra, Jessica, Angela, and Christopher; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Bill in 1993 and by his three brothers: Bill, Jim, and Bob.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the First Memorial Presbyterian Church, 51 West Blackwell Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Memorial Fund at the First Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dover (fmpcdover.org).
