Obituary of Consuelo P. Keller

Consuelo Puente Keller, 87, passed away absolutely peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, surrounded by her family, in Morris Plains, N.J. Born December 14, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., she was the cherished daughter of Carmen Lopez and Joaquin Puente. She is predeceased by her devoted husband John George Keller of Reading, Pa., whom she married in 1951, and by three sisters, Hilda, Irene and Celia, and two brothers, Ruben and Fernando. John and Connie have six loving daughters--Patrice, Maria-Christina, Gabrielle, Lisa, Kimberley and Michele--three sons-in-law, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Keller graduated from Manual High School in Kansas City, where she studied graphic arts and won many awards for her exquisite drawings. In 1949 she earned her nursing degree at St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kan. She went on to have a long and rewarding career, serving in many hospitals around the United States, including Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Nebraska and North Carolina. In 1974 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, she was honored as Nurse of the Year; in 1975 she was named Employee of the Month in April for her outstanding performance as Nursing Unit Director of the Outpatient Clinics there and also received a Nursing Excellence Award in Professional Achievement in May. Our mother will always be remembered for her wit and wisdom and warm love for her family. In addition to her daughters and grandchildren, Mrs. Keller is survived by her cherished sister Josefina and brother Luis and by her beloved college friend, Mary Elizabeth (“Rusty”) Hall. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, 1:00PM- 4:30PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Services will follow at 4:30 PM, also at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014, 11:00 AM at Lawrenceville Cemetery, Lawrenceville.
