Obituary of Jack E. Slater

Jack E. Slater, 2/21/1938 to 10/17/2014 Born in Dover , he was a life long resident of Rockaway Township . He graduated Dover High School in 1956, where he also played football. Jack worked at RFL Industries in Boonton Twp. as a facility manager for over 20 years. He was very active in the community being a lifetime member and past fire chief of the Marcella Fire Department and was active in the Boonton Kiwanis First Aid Squad. He was also a past Rockaway Twp. Councilman. When his kids were younger he coached Rockaway Twp. midget football and was a Cub Scout Master. He was also Morris Knolls Band parent for 13 years, and President of Morris Knolls Marching Band Parents Association of four years. Member, past president & treasurer or the Ironia Reelers Square Dance Club for over 35 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman & bowler. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years Marie F. (Iniello) Slater Loving father to Bruce, Thomas and his wife Susan, JoAnne and her husband Darren, Andrea Slater; and the light of his life, two granddaughters Shannon & Samantha Conklin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 4:00PM-8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Rt. 10 W., Randolph ( www.tuttlefh.com ). Firemen's Service 7:00PM and Funeral Service 7:30PM on Tuesday October 21, 2014. Graveside Service will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, October, 22, 2014 at Marcella Cemetery , Rockaway Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Marcella Fire House, 65 Mount Hope Road , Rockaway , NJ 07866 .
