Janet was born on November 10, 1957 in Colombo, Sri Lanka and spent her childhood living first in Canada and later in Bethesda, Maryland. She studied at the University of Grenoble, France and ultimately received her degree from YorkUniversity in Toronto, Canada.
During her travels in France she met her future husband, Bernie Drury. They were married on June 25th, 1978 and settled in Kearny, NJ. In 1999, she and her family moved to BuddLake where she enjoyed the peaceful country setting and wonderful neighbors.
For the past several years Janet worked in the Customer Service department for Celgene Corporation. She loved her job and her co-workers and especially appreciated how it allowed her to continue her lifelong commitment to service to others. This commitment was further evident in the active role she took at BreakpointCommunityChurch.
Janet had a deep abiding faith in God and it was evident in how she lived from day to day. After God, her family was the most important aspect of her life. Anyone who knew Janet understood that she loved her sons, Evan and Brian, absolutely and took great pride in their development as young men. Janet also cherished her relationship with Evan’s wife, Kristen, whom she loved dearly and was thrilled to welcome into the family.
Janet had a very full life.
She was the past president of the Sparta chapter of PEO, an international women’s Philanthropic and Educational Organization.
She was a member of Toastmasters and truly enjoyed the challenge of public speaking.
