Obituary of Richard R. Bongo

Richard R. Bongo passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 surrounded by his family in his home in Mt. Arlington , NJ . He was 78. Richard was born in Newark and raised in Bloomfield . He lived in Parsippany and Randolph before moving to Mt. Arlington 8 years ago. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and served as 1 st Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1959 to 1961 serving in the Adjutant General’s Office. Richard was in the insurance industry for many years and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Mt. Arlington .
Besides his family, Richard loved serving the students in and around Morris County as a Track and Field and Cross Country official. He was a founding member of the 200 Club of Morris County and was an active member and usher at Resurrection Parish in Randolph for many years. But Richard’s greatest love and passion was his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara (nee-Allocca); his sons: Robert and his wife Judy of Rockaway; Richard and his wife Wendy of Morristown; his daughter Regina and her husband Timothy Harris of Mansfield, NJ; his brother Robert and sister-in-law Carolyn of Old Bridge; along with his 9 grandchildren Christopher, Keri, Erin, Samantha, Ryan and Emily Bongo and Kimberly, Gregory and Emily Harris.
Visitation will be held 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph ( www.tuttlefh.com ). A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Mt, Arlington on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 10:00 AM.
