Obituary of Elizabeth J. Shields

Elizabeth (Betty) Shields passed away on August 31, 2014 while in Atlantic City. She was born in Manhattan, NY and grew up in Bronx, NY. She resided in Mine Hill for the past 43 years. She was the youngest of six children. She helped raise her only sister's children after she passed away 36 years ago. She kept her family close and loved each and every one of them very dearly. She will be greatly missed from this family. Betty was a resilient woman that overcame many odds. Most of all she had so much love for everyone! Her husband John (Jack) Shields passed away 17 years ago. She is survived by her children Traci and Peter Cronin, Colleen and Roger Nugent, E.J. and Karen Shields, Heather and Peter Sykes and her grandchildren Griffin, Sara, Brendan, Kailey, Jack, Cora, Ellie, Joe and P.J.. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, September 5th, 2014, 3:00 - 5:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass at Resurrection Parish, Millbrook Avenue, Randolph, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6th, 2014. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers donations are requested in her memory to either the American Cancer Society, Eastern Division, Inc., Attn: Memorial Processing Center 6725 Lyons Street, P.O. Box 7 East Syracuse, NY 13057 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
