Franz Josef Leinweber, 86, of Randolph, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. He was born and raised in Germany. During WWII his parents sent his to the Ruhr Mountains for his safety. Franz earned his PhD in Biology from University Tubing.
He worked as a Biochemist at Hoffmann-LaRoche, Nutley for 17 years and retired in 1993. Franz was an avid gardener and botanist. He was a member of the Sierra Club and was passionate in his conservation efforts. He enjoyed writing poetry and several of his poems have been published. He found joy in collecting stems, coins and stamps.
Franz is survived by Lupe, his wife of 57 years; two children Stefan Leinweber and Annemarie and her husband William Hall; one grandson Daniel Hall.
