Obituary of Marie Reine Lucienne Brennan

Memorial Services will be at 10 am at St Matthews the Apostle on Thursday, September 10, 2009 Marie Reine Lucienne Brennan Marie Reine Brennan of Randolph, formally of Boca Raton, Florida, and Rahway NJ, passed away on September 4th at the Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was 95 years old. Marie was born in Chicutimi, Québec, Canada in 1913. In 1918, her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Middlebury, VT.. In order to finish high school, she arranged to live with and work for a Professor and his wife at Middlebury College. After high school, she was accepted to Roosevelt School of Nursing, NYC, and continued to work there after her graduation. In 1937, she and Bill Brennan married and moved to Rahway, NJ, where they raised six children. On December 17, 1943, Marie became a naturalized American citizen. Marie returned to work in 1959 at Rahway Hospital. Within a few years she was promoted to Director of Nursing. She retired from that position in 1978, and after retirement she moved to Boca Raton, Fl. Marie was very active in church activities at Our Lady of Lourdes in Boca Raton, where she worked tirelessly to raise funds to build a new church. She was President of the Ladies’ Guild. Marie was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Marie Ann Hannah. She is survived by her sons Bill, Jack, Tom and Jim and daughter Kathy Rosenthal and her fifteen grandchildren, Mary Beth Munday, Suzanne Holt, Kerry Brennan, Kate Richardson, and Tracy Franke, Michelle Brennan, Kristen Brennan, Kevin Brennan, Erin Brennan, Colleen Whitehead, Joe Brennan, Terry Brennan Michael Rosenthal, David Rosenthal and Brian Rosenthal and eight great grandchildren, Andrew Brennan, Madeline Holt, Charlotte Munday, Lauren Munday, Sofie Brennan, Sean Brennan, Molly Anne Brennan, Hannah Rosenthal. She is also survived by brothers Raoul and Wilfred and sisters Lucille, Juliette and Gracia. The family will receive friends at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Highway 10, Randolph, (www.tuttlefh.com)from 3 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday, September 9th. Funeral Services will be at 10 am at St Matthews the Apostle on Dover Chester Road in Randolph. Final disposition will be private.
