Obituary of Erik Nilsen

Erik Nilsen, 86, of Roxbury Township , passed away after a short illness on Friday July 18, 2014 at Saint Clares Hospital , Denville. Erik was born in Sandefjord , Norway . He lived in Rockaway Twp. before residing in Roxbury Twp. In his early years, Erik worked on a Norwegian whaling ship. Mr. Nilsen owned Nilsen’s Sunoco, Dover for over 25 years before retiring. He was a military veteran and a member of Sons of Norway. Erik is survived by his four children Eric and his wife Donna of Fredon, Robert of Rockaway Twp., John and his fiancé Debi of Rockaway Twp., and Irene Livas and husband Jimmy of Hopatcong. He is also survived by a brother Kjell and sister Else Flaten of Norway, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a son-in-law William McConley of Jefferson . Predeceased by his wife Berit, a daughter Ingrid McConley, and a granddaughter Jennifer. A Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com ) on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 4:30PM. Visitation also at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00PM – 5:00PM. Interment is private.
