Gertrude Mary Barbato (nee Rossi), 97, of Succasunna, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11 th , 2014, at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover Campus. Gertrude was born in Morristown and has been a resident of Succasunna since 1975, formerly of Dover .
She worked as a seamstress and examiner at Gotham Hosiery in Dover . She was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church , Dover , a long time active member of Court Dover #881 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas , Roxbury and Dover Senior Citizens, and NARFE. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She dearly loved her family and friends, music and dancing. Her family was her priority throughout her life. She was a gentle woman with a wonderful smile and greeting for everyone she met.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband James Vincent of 73 years. Loving mother of two daughters Joan Marie Moran and her husband Douglas of Mt. Hope; Diane Cece and her husband Lawrence of Hackettstown; two sons James Barbato, Jr. and his wife Winifred of Downers Grove, IL; Stephen Barbato and his wife JoAnn of Andover. Survived by eleven grandchildren: Douglas, William, Katherine, Bettina Marie, Thomas, Daniel, Brian, Sharon , Nicole, Stephen, and Laura, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Rocco Rossi of Dover , sister-in-law Rachel Rossi of Budd Lake , and brother-in-law Anthony Barbato of Netcong.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 13 th , 2014, 4:00-8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph ( www.tuttlefh.com ). A Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 14 th , 2014, 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Church , Dover . Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery , Dover .
