Gerrit Swaneveld, 82, of Randolph, passed away Monday, June 16th, 2014 at Care One of Madison in Morristown. Gerrit was born in Vlaadingen, Netherlands and has been a resident of Randolph since 1961.
He worked as a machinist in Randolph.
Gerrit was a herring boat fisherman in Holland. He was a professional soccer player in Europe before immigrating to the USA. Long time player and member of Hoboken (Bergen Kickers) 1st Division - over 40 Division and played into his 60's. He was also a member of Germania Park, Dover.
Survived by his partner in life, Arlene Cope; two sons Dirk and his wife Kathy and Tony and his wife Loretta. Also survived by five grandchildren Kimberly, Gerrit, Dirk, Matthew and Kyle.
Visitation Thursday, June 19th, 2014, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
