Obituary of Ernest V. Musmanno

Ernest V. Musmanno passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares Hospital in Dover, after a short illness. He was 85. Ernest was born in New Cumberland, WV, he moved to North Plainfield in 1949. He met Rosalind Parlapiano at MSC and they married in 1959, he then lived in Belleville for most of his married life, moving to Ledgewood, where he had lived for the last 10 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received his B.A. in Business Education from Montclair State College in 1958. He also has a Masters Degree. He was a respected educator at Belleville High School for 33 years, where he was also the Director of the Summer School from 1964-1977 and Supervisor of the Belleville Business Dept. until his retirement in in 1994. He also taught at Passaic Valley H.S. for 4 years. Ernest was the first Treasurer of the Belleville Optimists Club and was honored for outstanding service to his community in 1984. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post # 278 Musconetcong.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife Rosalind(nee Parlapiano);son Christopher and his wife Leticia, his daughter Donna Weiss and her husband Allan and seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Jessica, Lydia, Gianna, Emma, Benjamin and Jared. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rosa(nee Forte) Musmanno and nine brothers and sisters.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 3-5 & 7-9PM at Tuttle Funeral Home (www.Tuttlefh.com ) in Randolph. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Therese Church in Succasunna. Entombment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover.
