Obituary of Ligaya Rodriguez Masankay

Ligaya Rodriguez Masankay, 99, of Randolph, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her home.  Ligaya was born on September 12, 1918 in Mati, Davao, Philippines.  She was the fourth child of Ambrosia Rodriguez and Ignacio Almeda Masankay. She studied at the University of Santo Tomas where she finished her Doctor of Medicine degree. She practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Manila.
 
In the US, she practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in El Paso, Texas, and Detroit, Michigan, thoracic and abdominal surgery at Zurbrugg memorial Hospital in South Jersey, as well as Bariatrics Medicine in Passaic, New Jersey, and Geriatrics medicine in Greystone Park New Jersey, where she worked for many years and retired in 1990.  She was an active member of the Zonta Women’s Club, and was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish, Dover.
 
She was the sister of Arturo Masankay (Lourdes Gatdula), Luningning (Tomas) M Rocas , Liwayway (Pedro)M Ricafranca, and Liwanag (Alejandro) M Arenas.
She leaves a son, Jette M Arenas and his wife  Sonia De Villa, and one grandchild, Katrina Angela, and a host of nephews and nieces.
 
Wake will be on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00PM – 5:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).  Private Graveside Service at Millbrook Cemetery, Randolph on September 14, 2018.
