ROCKAWAY- Jeffrey S. Kern, 58, died suddenly on Monday, August 20, 2018. Born in Plainfield, he was raised in North Plainfield, moving to Rockaway 30 years ago. He was a 1982 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a Principal Engineer, R & D for Schindler Elevator Corporation in Randolph. Previously he worked for Intel Corp. and Singer Kearfott. Jeff enjoyed photography, music, electronics, traveling and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was predeceased by his mother, Christine Charlton and his father, Philip Stephen Kern. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Michelle S. (Miller) Kern; his brother, Bruce Kern and his wife, Anna; his maternal grandmother, Muriel Hamer; his brother-in-law, Scott Miller; 2 nieces; many cousins, aunts and uncles; and his beloved pugs, Brandi and Ranger. Visitation 1:00 pm-3:30 pm Sunday, August 26, 2018 with a Memorial Service starting at 3:30 pm at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Popcorn Park Zoo/Associated Humane Societies, The Seeing Eye, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Community Food Bank of NJ or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Quackenboss Funeral Home, New Brunswick.
