Obituary of Edmund Friel
Edmund A. Friel, 83 passed away suddenly of a short illness, Tuesday, June 26,2018 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover. He was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and was a resident of Dover since 1960.
Edmund was a Maintenance Mechanic at Howmet, Rockaway for 29 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. Edmund was a parishioner of the St. Mary’s Church in Wharton and he served as an usher. He also worked for the Dover Water Dept. for 10 years retiring in 1999, a member of the East Dover Social Club, a player agent and Umpire for the Dover Little league, an avid supporter of Dover Athletics and he enjoyed watching the Dover Football Team. He played softball in the Air Force and for Howmet and he was selected to play for UNICO Football league in High School.
Edmund is survived by his three children; Susan Friel of Sandyston, Carolyn Friel of Dover and Joseph Friel of Dover, his cherished granddaughter Sophia Meola, two brothers James and his wife Patricia of Salem, NH, Joseph of San Diego, CA, one sister Marilyn Cotler and her husband Jerrold of Palm Coast, Fl., also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 1988.
Visitation Monday, July 2, 2018 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home 272 Route 10 Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 9:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Wharton. Interment is private.
