Obituary of Madeline G Titus
Madeline Guenther Titus, Feb 26, 1922 - March 22, 2018, of Dover, passed away peacefully at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover General.
She was born in Thalheim Erzgebirge Germany and lived in Dover since 1925. She grew up and lived all her life in the Germantown section of Dover. She graduated from Dover High School in 1939. She formerly worked at McGregors in Dover, Hewlett-Packard in Rockaway. Previously she had been a hairdresser in Denville & Dover. She was a past member of the Dover Board of Health, the Deutsche Schule & Gesangverein (Germania Park) and the First United Methodist Church, Dover. She was a wonderful baker and an excellent cook. She also was an avid lover of cats & kittens and had many pets over the course of her lifetime. She worked with the Randolph Animal Pound on behalf of abandoned cats and kittens in her section of Dover.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, H. Rudyard Titus, her parents Bruno & Elsa Guenther.
Survived by her loving son, longtime Alderman Rudyard Keith Titus of Dover, daughter Christine Titus McIntyre of Mohnton, PA and son Kim Titus of Juneau, Alaska; her sister-in-law Carolyn Titus Sopoci of Richmond, California; her grandson Patrick Welch and his wife Renee and great granddaughter D'Arcy Welch. She is also survived by cousins in Germany, nieces and nephews, and many many friends in Dover.
