Obituary of Marueen E. Baldwin
Maureen E. Baldwin of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Monday March 5, 2018, while on vacation at Emerald Isle, N.C.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, January 12, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James Touhey and Hilda Eggert.
Maureen was a 1965 graduate of Morris Catholic High School in Denville, New Jersey and attended Nazareth College in Nazareth, Kentucky and the New York Performing Arts Academy in Manhattan, New York. After marriage to her husband Glen in 1970, the couple moved to El Paso, Texas, while Glen was in the Army, and then to Columbia, South Carolina where Maureen worked as executive secretary to the Assistant Dean of the University of South Carolina Law School. In 1975, the couple moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where Maureen gave birth to the couple's first child Alyson Marie, and then to Greenville, South Carolina, where Maureen worked as administrative assistant to the Dean of Medical Education at Greenville General Hospital. In 1979, the couple moved to Wilmington, Delaware as Glen began his career with the DuPont Company. Maureen gave birth to their second child Emily Ann in 1982, and thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her two daughters and volunteering for school and church activities. Maureen was a member of The Church of the Holy Child, in Brandywine Hundred, where she taught Sunday School, and also Christ Our King Church in Wilmington where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Maureen was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and thoroughly enjoyed being a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Scott and Ellie. She was a truly unique lady. Her beautiful voice and loving and generous heart were a gift to her family and all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her sister Regina, and her brother Kevin. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Glen, daughter Alyson Schumacher, her husband Major Joel Schumacher, USMC, daughter Emily Lawson, her husband James Lawson, grandson Scott Schumacher and granddaughter Elizabeth Schumacher, sisters Kathleen Touhey and Eileen Arentowicz and her husband Charles, Brother Brian Touhey and his wife Loretta, brother Dennis Touhey, brother Patrick Touhey his wife Deborah, brother Timothy Touhey his wife Denise, brother Michael Touhey, and sister in law Annabelle Touhey, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, everyone of whom she loved and with whom she shared her generous spirit.
Visiting hours will be held 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Wednesday, march 14, 2018 at Tuttle Funeral Home 272 Route 10, Randolph, NJ (www.Tuttlefh.com). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Dover. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
