Obituary of Marguerite Maguit Morend

Maguit Morend, who would have celebrated her 95th birthday on April 2nd, died peacefully on February 24th, 2018 surrounded by her family at Sunrise of Randolph.  Maguit was born in Treyvaux, Switzerland in 1923.  She emigrated to the United States in 1950, and settled in Teaneck New Jersey until moving to Emerson in 1967 and then to Monroe Township in 1996.  In 2015, Maguit moved to Randolph.

For many years, Maguit worked tirelessly as a seamstress, with the commitment and hard work that was evident in everything she did.  She was an incredible cook and baker, and loved nothing more than making a wonderful meal for family and friends, invariably topped off with one of her famous apple pies.  Friends and neighbors marveled at her garden, and she was always delighted to share her flowers and vegetables.

Above all, Maguit was a humble woman who was devoted to her family and friends, her God and her church.  Her faith was a constant in her life, and carried her through difficult times.

For 61 years, Maguit was the devoted wife of the late Deacon Michel Morend.  She is survived by her two daughters, Veronique Morend of Bethpage, New York, and Christine Schuette and her husband Matthew of Randolph, a well as her beloved grandchildren, Carolyn Schuette and Eric Schuette and Harrison Masta.  Maguit is also survived by a loving extended family in Switzerland and Hawaii.   She is predeceased by seven siblings.  

 A visitation will be held on Tuesday,February 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00PM & 6:00 to 8:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Randolph. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg.
