Obituary of Francis Rudolph Hoffman
Francis "Rudy" Hoffman, 81, lifelong resident of Dover, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at CareOne at Morris Assisted Living, Parsippany.
Francis graduated from Sacred Heart School, Bayley Ellard High School, and Seton Hall University with a B.S. in Marketing. In 1958, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and assigned to the Second Infantry Battalion, Fort Devins, MA. During that time he served with distinction as a Paratrooper and Army Ranger. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1961 and served in the reserves until 1965. Francis was a Certified Public Accountant and Director of Finance for Nabisco/Kraft, East Hanover for 28 years before his retirement in 2001.He was a very active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Dover his entire life. He served as an usher for over 65 years and was head of the Parish Finance Committee.
Francis is survived by his wife Marie (Zipko) of 53 years; his son James Francis and his wife Jill and their three daughters Erin, Rachel, and Sara; and his son John Michael. He is also survived by his two sisters Kathleen Crum and Lois Dougherty, and many nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by his brothers Thomas Floyd and Dr. Frank A.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Dover on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00AM. Visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 3:00PM – 9:00PM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers donations to Sacred Heart Church, 4 Richards Avenue, Dover, NJ 07801.
