Obituary of Francis G. Johnson

Francis G. Johnson, Sr., 82, of Hackettstown, passed away Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. Francis was one of twelve children. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, on March 12, 1932. Francis was raised in St. Louis, MO, and resided in Dover until retiring to Hackettstown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Korean War. He retired from the Dover Street Department in 1983. He enjoyed playing the piano, accordion and harmonica, he also enjoyed painting still life. Face book was an avenue he used to keep in touch with his family, sharing stories and photos. He was a member of the American Legion Post 27 of Dover. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Jessie Marlin Johnson; two sons Francis Gene Johnson, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Mount Bethel, PA, John Edward Johnson and his wife Patricia of Dover, and stepdaughter Betty Hoffman of Tucson, AZ; his siblings Ronald Johnson of Dyersburg, TN, James Lee Johnson of Aurora, IL, Debbie Casby of St. Louis MO, Lela Earnsburger also of St. Louis, MO, and Helen I. Kottis of Ingleside, IL. Also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Robert Harry Scott Johnson.
