Obituary of Augustus Asbell, Jr.
Augustus Asbell, Jr., 63, of East Orange, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at his home with family by his side. He was born October 15, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida, he then resided in Dover, NJ, and later East Orange, NJ.
Augustus was a graduate of Dover High School’s class of 1973, where he marched in the band and went on to the Garden State Band. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. He enjoyed being a singer, drummer and entertainer. At a young age, he became a member of Bethel AME Church in Boonton, NJ, where he was a member of the choir. He received the Jerry Lewis Marathon Award and volunteered with ARC. He loved his animals considering them his children: Sundae, Bosco, Prince and Precious.
He is survived by his loving a devoted wife of 16 years, Iris Asbell; two children Anthony Norwood, Jr. And Alnieca A. Mosley; five grandchildren Shaina, Lance and Seth Mosley, Nevaeh Matto and Giovanni Watkins; his loving and devoted mother Ivory Asbell; his loving and devoted sister Janice Anthony; his aunt Nellie Childs; siblings-in-law Jesse Tyree, Theodore Tyree, Linda and Carl Wilson, Laura Tyree, Robert Tyree, Ruth Tyree and Ibrahiym Gladney along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
Visitation Friday, December 15, 2017, 10:00AM-12:00Noon with a service at 12:00Noon at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.
