Obituary of Marie Welby
Marie Welby, of Randolph passed away on June 17. 2017, at Regency Grande Nursing Home, Dover. She was 92.
She was born in Hartford, CT., lived in Farmington, CT, New York City, Bronxville, NY, Emerson, NJ and in Granby, CT before moving to Randolph in 1974.
Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James J. Welby, her parents Emilia and Guy Beninati, brother A. George and sister Vivian Zigler. She is survived by her brother, Rev. F. Henry Beninati, M.M., retired Maryknoll missionary, niece Carol, Brattleboro, VT, nephew, Gregory, Salem, NH and several grand niece and nephews.
Marie attended several schools in the tri-state area including the Fashion Academy in NYC and County College of Morris, NJ.
She was a homemaker with a long history of volunteer activities beginning as a teen at Hartford Hospital in CT. She was an American Red Cross, Gray Lady and served at the hospital on Ellis Island, NY.
For over 31 years she was a volunteer in Pediatrics at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Dover Campus, and with her husband she served at Homeless Solutions (Morris Shelter for the Homeless) Morristown and Morris Township.
While an Emerson resident, she headed the volunteer program at Pascack Valley Hospital, Westwood, a Charter member of the Emerson Volunteer Ambulance Corps. and First Aid Instructor.
In her business career, she worked for Mc Call Corporation, was a Fashion Consultant for a number of companies and gave presentations on radio and T.V. at various locations.
She was an active member of St. Virgil Church, Morris Plains where she was a Eucharistic Minister and participated in many ministries in the parish. She was a long-time member of the River of Life Prayer Group at St. Virgil’s. Twice each year she attended retreats at Loyola Retreat House, Morristown, NJ.
