Obituary of Joann C. Bostrom
Joann Bostrom, 81, of Randolph, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Morristown Medical Center, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Joann was born in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Wheaton College, where she met Donald, her husband of 56 years. She earned her Med Tech degree from Northwestern, Chicago, and then settled in Randolph with Don where they raised their family. She worked for Warner Lambert and then Morristown Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of Bethlehem Church, Randolph.
Beginning in childhood her days on Lake Michigan, Joann loved the water her whole life. While raising her family, she sailed several charter boats, and once was part of a crew adrift in the Caribbean Sea, saved only with fuel from a Russian tanker going to Cuba during the height of the Cold War. Joann loved to travel throughout Europe and was a lifelong learner, adventurer, painter and puzzle solver. She was an excellent photographer, whose photo credits were often incorrectly attributed to her husband, also an excellent photographer.
Her husband Don precedes her in death by just four months, and before her own birth, her sister Laverne. She is survived by her two children Brenda (Phil) Torster of Randolph and Chris (Megan) of Wheaton, IL; as well as five grandchildren Bjorn, Mason, Kayla, Blake and Mia.
All services will be held on June 4th, 2017 at 4:00PM at Bethlehem Church, Randolph. For more information contact Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
