August "Augie" J. Burkart, Jr., 89, of Hopatcong, passed away at home, Thursday, June 6th, 2013. Augie was born in Queens, NY and has been a resident of Hopatcong since 1972, formerly of Wakefield, MA.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He worked as an Auditor at Employer's Insurance of Wausau in West Orange, retired in 1985 after over 30 years.
Survived by five children Michael and his wife Eileen of RI, Thomas and his wife Carrollann of SC, Nancy Santos also of SC, A.J., III of Stanhope and Gary of WA. Also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Catherine Hogan Burkart.
A Memorial Service will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph, on Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. (www.tuttlefh.com). Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
