Obituary of Billy Poolas

Billy Poolas, 89, of Dover, passed away after a short illness on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital, Dover. Billy was born in Dover and resided there his whole life. He was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1941. Mr. Poolas served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II on a sub chaser in Alaska. He was a Tool & Die Maker at Howmet, Dover for 36 years before his retirement in 1988. Mr. Poolas was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler, gardener, and cook. He was a member of the Comanche Bowman and in 1968 he placed 3rd in the State Archery Championships. Billy is survived by his life long companion Sadie Hiler and his two children Sharon Poolas and Frank and Sandy Poolas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one faithful dog named Cherokee. Visitation on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com). The Funeral Service will be held 7:30PM at the funeral home.
