Obituary of Richard B. Pienkos

Richard Pienkos 1944-2013 MAJ, USArmy (RET.) Richard Pienkos passed away on May 18, 2013 at the VA Lyons Campus in the hospice unit. He was 68. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Linda; his daughter, Tracy Pienkos; his son, Brian Pienkos and daughter-in-law Stesha, and granddaughter Evie. After graduation from UCONN, Richard spent twenty years on active duty with the Army. He had tours in Vietnam, Korea and Germany along with many stateside assignments. After retiring from the Army in 1987, he worked for 20 years in private industry. He finished his career working at Picatinny Arsenal in the Recreation Department. He was very active in Veterans Groups as past commander of American Legion Post 344 and past Morris County American Legion Commander. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. A Memorial Service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.. Memorial Visitation will also be on Saturday, 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AUSA, Wounded Warrior Program, PO Box 66, Wharton, NJ 07885.
