Obituary of Walter E. Dickerson

Walter E. Dickerson passed into eternal life on Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Dover, he was born July 26, 1923, the eldest son of Russell and Nellie Dickerson.
He served in the Navy during WWII and was a supervisor in the supply division at Picatinny Arsenal.
Predeceased by his loving wife Joan (nee McCarthy) in 2002, his parents, Russell and Nellie, his brothers, Ronnie, Edward and Eugene and his sisters, Lucille and Shirley.
Survivors include his sisters, Lorraine, Alice and Thelma of Dover, NJ and Betty Lou Lovelace of New Market Va.
A loving father, he is also survived by his son Gerry and his wife Patricia of Byram; his daughter Ellen Haveman and her husband Frank of Newton.
Also a loving grandfather, Walter is survived by his grandchildren Kirk and Craig Haveman of Newton; Amy Dickerson of Byram, 2nd Lieutenant Kyle Dickerson of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Kyle’s fiancee’ Katie Walczuk and many cousins, nieces ,nephews and friends
Walter was an adult volunteer leader of Troop 64 of Dover in the 1960’s. He was selected to the Order of the Arrow during that time.
Always capable with his hands, Walter enjoyed “tinkering and puttering” in his workshop, keeping his home in tip top shape and enjoyed his lawn, his flowers and his vegetable garden.
Visitation, Thursday, March 21, 2013, 5 – 9 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 22, 2013, 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Succasunna United Methodist Church Cemetery, Succasunna.
