Obituary of Berta Haug

Berta Haug – age 91 passed away at home on Feb 15th. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, and raised in the town of Esslingen On Neckar. She immigrated to America in 1936 at the age 15 and lived with her aunt and uncle on the Newark/Irvington line. She worked in their delicatessen while attending night school learning English. Later she worked at Forstner Chain, a jewelry manufacturer located in Irvington, NJ, where she had lived for 29 years prior to moving to Lake Forest (Jefferson Twp.) in 1968. She was a member of Bethlehem Church, where she was also belonged to the Bethlehem Church Missions Ministry and Women’s Missionary Society for 29 years. She served as past President of the Women’s Missionary Society at both the Union and Parsippany CMA Churches. Berta spent many summers with family and friends at their Lake Shawnee summer home during the 50’s and 60’s. She was an excellent homemaker & cook and enjoyed being outside spending time gardening and bird watching. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred of 67 years and is survived by her two sons Ralph and Kenneth of Lake Forest. Also survived by her nephew Gary Herrmann and wife Janet of Queens, NY. Visiting hours will be held at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Rt. 10 W in Randolph, from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. The funeral service will be held 11 am on Wednesday at Tuttle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethlehem Church Missions, 758 Route 10 W, Randolph, NJ 07869.
