Obituary of Richard M. Biase
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Michael Biase, 77, of Dover, passed away on January 21, 2013, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. Richard was born in Newark, to the late Felice (Phil) and Anna Biase, and spent his early life in Newark. He attended Central High School, and was a regular attendee at his annual Class of 1953 reunions. He also had an Associate’s Degree in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
After spending two years in the Army he began his long career as a Design Draftsman, working with engineers to develop their ideas for production, as well as having his own business in Paramus. Upon his retirement he acted as a substitute teacher in the Montville school system.
Richard was an officer of the Dominic A. Spina Civic Association; taught shooting at the Newark Boys Club with the hope that if people knew how to use and respect a gun there would be less gun violence; and also served on the Belleville Planning Board. After suffering strokes in 2006, he did volunteer work at Kessler Rehab in Chester.
Richard leaves behind a beloved son, Richard Gerard and wife Kristin, grandsons Richard and Philip, daughter Melissa and husband Michael Vitale, and granddaughters Emily and Carly. He is also survived by his sister Felicia and uncle Michael and wife Maria Biase. He will be missed by his many cousins and friends.
