Stanley H."Stan the Man" Manning Sr.,94,of Dover passed away on Saturday,January 5,2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares Hospital in Dover.Stan was born in Pottersville,one of nine children to Raymond and Margaret Manning of Peapack-Gladstone.Stan lived a very full life and spent most of it in Dover. He worked at various jobs,including an estate caretaker and chauffeur, he had a bread route in Mendham,and in 1936 the Civilian Conservation Corps.(CCC),DL & W Railway Express and as a machinist at Howmet Corp.,where he retired in 1980 after 30 years.He was also a Dover Special Police Officer for 13 years,a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Dover,and the Dover Area Senior Citizens Association.He did umpiring for the Dover Fire Dept. softball team and played for the Howmet softball team. Stan is survived by his wife of almost 74 years,Rosalyn May (neeHolley),his daughters,Brenda Woodhull and her husband William B. of Dover,Linda Romeo of Burlington,VT.,and his son,Stanley H. Manning Jr., and his wife April of Hopatcong.His grandchildren,William B. Woodhull Jr. and his friend Lilliana Mendoza(who also helped take care of Stan),Katherine Savage,Michael Romeo and Chase Manning.His great grandchildren,Joseph Woodhull,Benjamin,Emily and Abby Savage and Matthew Romeo. He was predeceased by all of his siblings,his granddaughter LeeAnn Woodhull in 2007 and his son-in-law John Romeo. A visitation will be held on Wednesday,January 9,2013 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph www.Tuttlefh.com. The funeral will be on Thursday,January 10,2013 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover. A special thank you to the staff at Progressive and Compassionate Care Hospice Dept's. at St. Clares Hospital in Dover.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Dover Area Senior Citizens Association,c/o William B.
