Obituary of Richard A. Christie

Richard Arthur Christie, 86, of Forked River, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Randolph.
Mr. Christie was an Associate Member of Technical Staff at Western Electric and Bell Telephone Laboratories. He was involved in military defense projects and, later in his career, the development of commercial applications of electronics. He earned several patents during his career.
Mr. Christie graduated from Bloomfield High School at the age of 16 and attended the Newark School of Engineering until he was old enough to enlist in the Navy. Like many of his generation he was eager to support his country during WWII. Following his honorable discharge he continued to serve his country as a Naval Reservist.
Predeceased by his wife, Mildred Mary Seydler Christie; Mr. Christie is survived by his three children; Richard E. Christie of Charlotte, NC; Mary A. Berry and her husband Joseph of Randolph; and Deborah A. Christie Newman of Roxbury. In addition Mr. Christie is survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Christie spent his retirement years traveling, and enjoying his Jersey Shore home. He treasured spending his time sharing his love of fishing, boats, and the ocean with his ever growing family.
Respects can be paid to Mr. Christie at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 2:00PM – 4:00PM & 6:00PM – 8:00PM (Tuttlefh.com). A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00AM, and a final good-bye will follow at the Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
