Obituary of George J. Barna

George J. Barna, 82, formerly of Dover, Middletown, died peacefully June 1, 2012 in Wilmington, NC, after a long battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 34 years, Doris, and children of his first wife, Elizabeth a. Keeshen (deceased), Michael George, William, Thomas, CJ, Mary Beth, Nancy and KT, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Loretta J. Chirip of Beach Haven, NJ, spouse, Andrew and children, Steven, Andrew, James and Thomas; and Eileen Muccia of Toms River, NJ, spouse, Peter and children, David, Margaret Ann Melnick and Richard Muccia. George was graduated from Dover High School, Class of 1947 and Newark College of Engineering. He was a U.S. Navy veteran,serving from 1951 – 1955, including a tour of duty aboard the USS Intrepid. He later retired from Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ to Sunset Beach, NC. There he enjoyed fishing, bowling, table tennis and camping. He participated successfully in Senior Olympics. All arrangements were held in North Carolina. “Jesus needed another fisherman.”
