88, Mt. Arlington
James S. Blackburn, 88, of Mt. Arlington, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Regency Grande Nursing Center, Dover. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mr. Blackburn was predeceased by his wife Kathryn Blackburn in 2009 and is survived by a son, Scott J. Blackburn of Dayton and his wife Diane and two grandchildren, Tyler and Todd.
As a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and rose to the rank of Captain. He served as a P-38 Lightning pilot in the 35th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron of the 14th Air Force in the China, Central Burma and India-Burma campaigns during the war.
Mr. Blackburn was later employed as a management consultant and lived for many years in Wharton. In his retirement, he lived in Mt. Arlington where he pursued his life long passion for fishing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association of NJ, 1600 US Highway 22, Union, NJ 07083. All arrangements are private by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
