Emma Hendrickson, a resident of Morris Plains, NJ for 65 years died Sunday, February 19, 2012 following a short illness, just 5 weeks short of her 103rd Birthday. She was born in Meckville, PA on March 24,1909 to Elizabeth (Blouch) and John Porter. Pre-deceased by her husband George, son Richard and daughter Carolyn (Belbey), and her siblings. Survived by 8 grandchildren, Cindy Romaine (Richard), Donna Caruso, Nancy Gulmy (Richard), Karen Mariani (Guy), George Belbey (Jacqueline), Barbara Cooper (Gary), Jim Hendrickson, Debbie Hill (David), 18 Great Grandchildren, Adrienne Caruso, Keriann, Lindsey & Paul Gulmy, Connor, Ryan & Kelly Mariani, Brian (Amy), Matthew, Jason & Kevin Cooper, Andrew, Christopher & Daniel Hill, Kyle & Richard Hendrickson, Mallory & Sydney Belbey, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, Owen, Abigail, Samuel & Emily Cooper, and her daughter-in-law Joyce Hendrickson. She also leaves behind the many members of her “bowling family, especially the Five Bowling Bags. Her life was dedicated to family & bowling. Her bowling career spanned over 65 years. She started with the Morris County WBC in 1953, serving as Vice president from 1956-1960 and president from 1960-1971. She was a member of the Morris County 600 Club Board of Directors for 20 years, serving 11 as director and 9 as Vice President. In 1962 she helped to found the Morris County YABA (Junior Bowling) serving in various office capacities until her retirement. On the State Level she was NJ-WBA Director from 1960-1966, served as Vice President for 2 years, and also served as State YABA Vice President & Sargeant at Arms. She participated in 52 consecutive USBC Women’s Championship Tournaments and made history at age 100 bowling her 50th consecutive tournament. She was also a delegate to the National USBC Convention for many years. She was a member of the Morris County WBA Hall of Fame 1982 (Meritorious Service), NJ State Womens' Hall of fame 1995 (Meritorious Service), MC Bowling Assoc - Special Category – 2004.and Metropolitan Bowling Writers Association - Special Service Award – 2003. She is a Life Member of Morris County USBC Women's Bowling Association. She officially retired from bowling December 2011. In 2009 she bowled against Regis Philbin at the 300 Club in Chelsea Pier & received the Relly award for Sensational Senior from the Live with Regis & Kelly show. She also appeared on the Martha Stewart Show in 2010 in a segment for Living Longer. A Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com), on Friday February 24, 2012 at 10:00AM. Visitation Thursday February 23, 2012, from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the funeral home. Interment at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. Keeping her spirit alive and her dedication to young bowlers, donations may be made in her name to help fund youth bowling scholarships.
