Herbert C. Swartz, 82, of Dover, passed away Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at Saint Clares Hospital, Dover. Herbert was born in Dover and has been a lifelong resident of Dover. He was a member and elder of the First Memorial Presbyterian Church, Dover. He was a disabled veteran who served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He worked as a Veterans Employment Representative for the N.J. Department of Labor, Dover, and retired in 2008 after 16 years. Former Owner/Operator of Swartz Motors of Dover. He was the oldest member of the Dover Fire Department Hook and Ladder Company, having joined in 1950. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor; son Brian L. and wife Dawn S. of Dover; brother Norman of Sparta; two sisters Eleanor Lattig of Randolph and Christine Seltzer of Mt. Olive. Also survived by two grandchildren Brittany and Dustin both at home. Visitation Wednesday, January 25th, 2012, 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Services will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 26th, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the First Memorial Presbyterian Church, 51 West Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801.
