Joseph F. Stropnicky, 88, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital, Dover, following a short illness. Joseph was born in New York, NY and is a resident of Toms River, moved here from Long Valley. He was a Parishioner of St. Mary of the Lake, Lakewood where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Western Electric, Newark, and retired in 1981. Member of Knights of Columbus, Hackettstown. He was an avid card player and golfer, loved spending time with his family and loved to dance with Lillian. Survived by his 3 sons Paul Stropnicky and wife Nancy of Randolph, Stephen Stropnicky and wife Kim of Lincoln Park and Raymond Stropnicky of Hopatcong; 2 daughters Joan Johnson and Jay of Thousands Oak, CA and Janet Curzon and John of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren Kate, Christopher, Elizabeth, Jessica, Annie, Kevin, Emma, Emily, Lily, Jack and Madeline; 2 great-grandsons Nicholas and Elijah; his sister Mary James and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Lillian in 2010. Memorial Mass at Resurrection Parish, Randolph, NJ, at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14th, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons Street, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 and/or March of Dimes of North Jersey, 2400 Main Street, Ext: Suite #1, Sayreville, NJ 08872.
