Joseph D. Blahovec Sr., 76, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at Saint Clares Hospital, Denville, following a short illness. Joseph was born in Morristown and was a lifelong resident of Dover. He was a Parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Dover. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Meter Reader for NJ Natural Gas, Dover, and retired in 1998. Member of the American Legion William Hedges Baker Post #27, Dover. He loved bowling at the Rockaway Lanes. Survived by his loving companion Barbara Ohlsen of Dover; his daughter Mary Gruszecki and her husband John of Hopatcong; his son Joseph Blahovec Jr. and his wife Donna of CO. Also survived by his grandchildren Anthony Gruszecki, Daniel Gruszecki, Jacob Blahovec and Jared Blohovec and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving wife Julia of 37 years. Visitation Sunday, December 18th, 2011, 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Dover at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 19, 2011. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Sacred Heart Church, 8 Richards Avenue, Dover, NJ 07801.
