Obituary of Joseph Alberti

Joseph "Joe" Alberti, 65, of Mount Arlington, passed away September 13th, 2011, at his residence. Joe, a retired captain from the Passaic Fire Department, was born in Passaic, NJ on June 30, 1946. He lived in Passaic until moving to Kenvil, in 1978. Joe proudly spent his life protecting and serving, first in the United States Air Force, then as a police officer with the Passaic Police Department, where he spent two years before joining the fire department in 1969. He retired in 1993 from the Passaic Fire Department as a captain. He was also a Roxbury Township special police officer for two years and owned his own private investigations company. Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth, and his brother Richard. In 2000, Joe married his second wife Janice. They lived briefly in Spring Hill, FL before moving to Mount Arlington to be closer to their grandchildren. Joe is best remembered for his sense of humor, his witty fire department stories, and love of guns, fishing and the New Jersey Devils. Survivors include his beloved wife, Janice (Huszar); son, Adam and his wife Nicole, of Kenvil; daughter, Joann Alberti of Stroudsburg, PA, daughter Kristine Alberti of Stuart, FL; stepdaughters Teresa Ardin and her husband Walter of Rockaway, Lisa Kane of Columbia, MD, and Mary Ort of Hackettstown, and seven grandchildren with one on the way. In leiu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Road, Union, NJ 07083. Visitation, Friday, September 16th, 2011, 4 - 8 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 17th, 2011, 11:00 AM also at the funeral home.
